Turtles Classroom

The Turtles’ classroom is New Mexico State University’s School for Young Children’s toddler program for children two years of age to three and a Half years of age. The Turtles’ provide a stimulating environment where children are guided in their developmental process.

The classroom is designed for children who are at a critical stage of their learning and development. The environment includes a large meeting area, a loft, a dramatic play area, science area, block building area, a writing center, an art studio, two children’s bathrooms, a covered outdoor courtyard, and a shared playground. The Turtle teachers are inspired by the Reggio Emilia Approach, and believe in supporting the children’s interests through projects that may last two to four weeks as they explore all their many languages.

The program provides the children with breakfast, lunch, and an afternoon snack each day. The Toddler classroom is tuition-based along with state childcare assistance, which is also accepted.
